８ 栃の木　−Tochi-no-ki (Aesculus turbinata, the Japanese horse chestnut)

　栃の木（トチノキ）は、私の生まれ育った埼玉県や栃木県（名前の通り)でもよく見かける木で、私が一番好きな木である。この栃の木は東ヨーロッパから持ち帰られたもので、日本産ではないのが残念だが、風格があって堂々とした姿に魅かれた。
